Learn about the history of Montgomery Hall Park with the Staunton and Augusta County African American Research Society:

The property was purchased in 1820, and a mansion was built.  In 1847, the property passed from Mr. John Peyton and changed hands many times. In 1946, the City of Staunton purchased the property from Alexander C. Elizabeth and D. Thomas, 141 acres to be used as a Recreation and Park for the Negro Community.

Program presented by Mrs. Agatha Coleman, a retired Augusta County School teacher. Mrs. Coleman taught for 35 years and was a 3-time teacher of the year.
